Tuning Chips intercept signals controlling such variants as Fuel Pressure, Injector Timing and/or Turbo Boost, and these signals are modified to achieve improved performance from the Engine. 

These units are not a one size fits all, but individually  pre programmed for the different vehicles, including any other modifications that are already on the vehicle, or to be added to the vehicle.  There is also re programming available if the vehicle is modified after the Tuning Box has been installed.  Modifications may include bigger wheels, Gas, petrol or larger exhausts.

These Tuning Boxes are pre programmed to maximize the performance of individual vehicle types, they are computer adjusted by Trained Technicians using 3D (not 2D) mapping curves, "Keep" settings ensure that the Tuning Boxes are only programmed by experts who understand how the hundreds of settings will affect the performance of the vehicle.  There is also a data log function, so after any modification is run for a week or so, the Tuning Box can be re programmed using this data to further enhance performance.

With all the modification that Engines deal with it is important to maximize performance by having your Tuning Box custom designed to deal with your system.  If you get a generic system there will always be compromise between the different variants, as the generic system is designed to suit all Engines, and all modifications, therefore will not maximize the performance of your particular Engine with your modifications.
